Style, Decor & More: I Flipped for Flipflop Wines!

I Flipped for Flipflop Wines!

Flipflop wines embraced the movement toward individualistic expression, instead of manufacturing wines into some cookie-cutter style that’s all the rage. Our goal is to craft expressive, well-balanced wines that evoke just what the grapes inside intended, without being over-wrought or over-explained, and that can be enjoyed at any occasion.

I was thrilled to be contacted by flipflop and asked to review their wines.  I was very impressed by their lengthy list of award winning wines, including a great month in June.  Wine Enthusiast Magazine awarded four flipflop wines a "Best Buy" in the June 2011 issue. Flipflop Moscato also received a "Double Gold" in the nation's largest and most prestigious international wine competition,The San Francisco International Wine Competition, and Real Simple Magazine selected flipflop Pinot Grigio as one of 10 summer whites and roses!

I have to admit that I never thought that I would take Style 'n Decor Deals in the direction of wine tasting, but the more I learned about this wonderful company, it was a perfect fit for Style 'n Decor Deals.  I first noticed their stylish flipflop labels.  The bright-colored labels are fun and make it a great wine to bring to casual events. I like that flipflop wines are only $7 bottle too! Great deal!
What impressed me most about flipflop, aside from their award winning wines, was their Soles4Souls program.  With more than 300 million children in the world without shoes, flipflop wines is helping to put shoes on more than 100,000 feet!  For every bottle of wine that is purchased, flipflop wines will donate a pair of shoes!  The consumer gets to enjoy a great bottle of wine at a reasonable price and a child receives a pair of shoes. I love that! You can find out more about the program at http://www.soles4souls.org/.

I was given the three wines shown above to sample: Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, and Riesling.  I brought the wines to a family get together for the tasting and was amazed at the positive response I received from everybody.  For review purposes, I made everyone choose a favorite, even though it was difficult.
Pinot Noir Review:  My brother-in-law, the wine connoisseur, was very impressed.  He prefers a dry wine and really liked the Pinot Noir.  He liked the aroma and the hint of vanilla. My husband and my other brother-in-law preferred the Pinot Noir as well.  Everyone agreed that it was medium-dry.  Definitely not too dry.  I tried this wine last with chocolate chip cookies and it was delicious.
Riesling Review:  My parents and one of my sisters liked the Riesling best.  They prefer sweeter wines and commented that the Riesling was sweet, but not too sweet.  I agree.  This is a medium-sweet wine and has a sweet aroma.
Pinot Grigio Review:  My other sister, my aunt and I preferred the Pinot Grigio.  I served it chilled and it was very light and refreshing.  It went well with the homemade bruschetta I made using tomatoes from my garden. It was right in between dry and sweet. Perfect for me!

There are seven individualistic wines to try: Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir.  They are available to purchase online at www.flipflopwines.com.

I received a free product for review purposes. I did not receive any form of compensation from the company. All opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. My reviews are my personal and honest opinions.

  2. Will most definately order some of this wine. At $7 per bottle, what a deal for a good wine! Plus add in the donation of shoes...a no brainer.
