Style, Decor & More: Homemade White Truffle Hot Chocolate

Homemade White Truffle Hot Chocolate

With colder days coming our way, there’s nothing better than snuggling up with a large blanket, some comfortable slippers and a large cup of hot chocolate.

When it comes to hot chocolate, the sky’s the limit with flavor profiles and different toppings. I can never say no to an abundant amount of mini marshmallows but lately, I’ve been wanting to get more creative with my cocoa.

There’s a café near my house that serves the most exquisite white hot chocolate. It’s creamy, full of flavor and is the perfect drink on a cold and chilly night. Its sweet aroma fills the air and the first sip begins to warm you up from the inside out. Of course, I immediately wanted to make my own and so I developed the recipe with a slight twist: White Truffle Hot Chocolate.

Rather than using the traditional vanilla extract for flavoring, I opted for some almond extract and melted high-quality white chocolate in order to get my recipe just right. The almond topping was the perfect garnish. I never had such an elegant hot chocolate before!

The winter season is coming up! Do you have any seasonal traditions? What’s your favorite way to drink hot chocolate? Tell me in the comments below!

White Truffle Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

1 cup 2% milk

2 ounces high-quality white chocolate

½ tsp almond extract

Whipped cream

Chopped almonds or pecans for garnish

Yields: 1 serving

Process

In a saucepan over low-medium heat, combine milk, white chocolate and almond extract and whisk constantly. Allow for all of the ingredients to blend together. Wait until milk simmers (but not let it come to a boil). Remove from heat.

Pour into your favorite mug and top it off with whipped cream and your choice of chopped nuts. Enjoy!

(Yes, it’s that easy).
